While reading Principle-Centered Leadership I came across some familiar passages about the greatness of Chistopher Columbus. The funniest thing (besides not mentioning his enslavement and then extermination of a civilization) was a passage about how Columbus went against the current thinking of the day and provided a new map for the people to use where the world was round. Why this strikes me as funny is that in Lies My Teacher Told Me, they point out that at the time that Columbus sailed, it was generally accepted that the world was round (Loewen, pg 56). The great thing about reading more is that I'm getting back into being more skeptical about what I read. 10:24:19 PM  comment []

So i really enjoy taking pictures, but have not gone out shooting for a while. I'm really trying to get better, but I haven't yet taken any classes. I shoot with a Canon D30 and primarily use a Canon 24-85 3.5-4.5 lens. Of course, the real lens that I want is a Canon 70-300 IS L lens... just can't pony up the dough for a hobby. I shot about 7,500 pictures last year, almost 2,500 of which I took in a 3 week period when I went to Spain and the San Juan islands in Washington. I'm trying to make up in quantity what I can't do with quality. You can check out some pictures that I submitted to PhotoSig.
