I sent out mail after my bluetooth
rant a couple weeks ago... I started with a few people I knew... slowly grew the
circle... eventually got forwarded to someone in the hardware group... eventually
got to the right people... and started a conversation...
First - confirmation that the current bluetooth stack does not support SPP.
Second - confirmation that the hardware will support any profile that the software
stack supports.
Third - no confirmation on SPP support in the future. Bummer.
The good news - at "some point" in the future they are looking at supporting it, but
nothing solid as of now. I have hope at least...
Well, I have been included on some correspondance with a person at Microsoft (which will remain nameless) that referred to Bluetooth as:
"Reality may be that due to the lack of BT uptake in the market (i.e. still a trivial number of BT devices and demand), MS may not have anything in-plan outside of a reactive mode."
Now this may be one employees opinion, but I question this when I read articles such as the following:
You could just do what a lot of other people have done and stop using the Microsoft drivers. The WIDCOMM 1.4 drivers support the Microsoft Bluetooth transceiver, and gives you access to the full range of Bluetooth profiles.
